Wye & Welsh Charity RTV

Team HBLRO on tour

Just after the dust had settled on the national, team HBLRO were off again on their travels. This time venturing into Wales for a 2 day charity RTV. The event is an annual interclub hosted by Corwall & Devon LRC and kindly looked after this year by the Wye & Welsh LRC. The club was up against tough competition from Somerset and Wilts, Cornwall and Devon and Southern to name a few. A mixed bag of results from some very deceiving sections that could of done with a sat nav they were so long. Thanks to Murray and the team over at Wye and Welsh for hosting an excellent 2 day trial that was very much in the spirit of the Cornwall and Devon events.
Our teams came 4th and 12th overall. For a full run down check out the scores and pictures.

Caught on Camera

Karen Hooper currently has a very extensive library of photos of many of our club members and is happy to send these out on disc on application. If you are interested please email Steve Aston (steve.aston@hbro.co.uk) with your name, full postal address and vehicle registration number.

Kingsclere RTV

Club secures a new site to the North of Hampshire

On the weekend of the 13th June the club ran a trail at a new site near Kingsclere. It was a little different to the ground we are used to comprising more loose spoil and steep drops. Steve Aston and a small team of helpers including Elton Jonsson, Ian Parker, Matt Hewitt, Mark Ambler and Kevin Wood gave up their Saturday to devise an interesting trial. The site is small, but the sections were setup to allow them to be reversed for the afternoon session. Look our for Kingsclere in next years calender. A full run down of results the are now posted here.. For action from the event and the winners take a look at the pictures.

Mark A top winner 2010

Top honours at the 2010 National

The Club scooped a number of awards at this years National Rally including 4 class placings and 4 of the annual ALRC Trophies. Probably the best ever result for HBLRO at national competition level. I have posted the scores based on the information available. Full results to follow along with pictures from the weekends events.

MSA COMPETITION LICENCES REQUIRED FOR WINCH/CHALLENGE/PUNCH EVENTS

We have some breaking news from the MSA which will have an effect on our planned half RTV/half winch day and on our members wishing to enter the Mike Wolfe Challenge. A recent addition to the MSA rules regarding winch/challenge/punch events requires all ‘drivers’ wishing to participate to be the holder of an MSA competition licence. This will require ‘drivers’ to complete an MSA licence application form and send this along with a fee to the MSA. So if you are planning to take part in the Mike Wolfe Challenge (as a driver) YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE THE LICENCE, no licence will result in you not being able to take part in the event. A passenger assisting a driver with navigation and winch operation and not ‘co-driving’ need not be a licence holder. You can apply for the licence ‘on-line’ or download an application form on the MSA web site If you wish to apply on-line you will have to register yourself with the MSA. In each instance the licence you require is a ‘Cross Country non-race Clubman’ at £23 per year.

As our planned half RTV/Half Winch day also now falls within the scope of this regulation participants wishing to take part in the event will also need to hold the MSA Competition licence. As a consequence of this we will be speaking to you at the next few events to take your reaction to this news and to make a decision about whether we continue to run the event or to just hold an RTV Newbury Spares Day

Fly the flag for HBLRO

A big thankyou to Julian Mallard, Roger Brummell and Steve Aston who ran the Club stand at the 4x4 and vintage spares day. From an ideal pitch in a central spot on the showground, they were kept busy all day promoting the Club and it's activities. Hopefully we will see some new faces at events soon.

Mike Wolfe Challenge 2009

Interest in the MWC event remained high this year following on from the success of the 2008 event in Bordon. 42 teams came from far and wide to complete at a new site near Ringwood in Hants. Richard Salter and his team layed out 100 + punches across the site using the ground to best advantage taxing the most skilled drivers and their vehicles to the max. The winning team of Dan Elias and Adrian Turner obtained 80 punches and no penalties with a final total of 6410. This gave them a very slim win over Peter Jackson and Richard Norris with 77 punches and 6330 points. Henry Cox won the ALRC class with a commanding 31 punches and 1860 points. In second position with 18 punches came Kevin Wood and Steve Aston with a total of 1214. Keep an eye out for more from this event, hopefully I will have pictures of the action soon, but for now you can find the scores Here...
